The following year our representation was even stronger, with participation in a number of disciplines:
Pat Donoghue represented Milltown in Recitation/Story Telling.
Pat also took part as the poor, bet down husband, in our Novelty Act (written by Mary Byrne). His long suffering wife was played by Eileen Kearney, with Noel Dunne, Caoimhe Byrne playing their next door neighbours. John O Dwyer is playing “the Mother in Law”, in a performance that has attracted whispers of a possible Golden Globe! :)
Noel Dunne also, once again, led our Quiz Team.
Pat Donoghue was unlucky to miss out to the eventual All Ireland champion in the Recitation, and Noel Dunne's quiz team were a commendable 2nd to the all conquering Allenwood team. However, a county title was brought back to the village when our Novelty Act won top spot. The prize was a spot, representing Kildare, in the Leinster Semi-Final in Oulart The Ballagh (Co. Wexford).
Our Novelty Act put in a great performance in Wexford to see them through to Milltown's first Leinster Final in many years. There was great excitement on the road to Ballymore in Westmeath for the final. Despite another great performance from our Léiriú (Novelty Act) group, we were unfortunately beaten into second place. Despite the disappointment there was a feeling that Milltown were back....and we'd only get stronger!
